Citrus Varieties By Season

As the seasons change, so does the vibrant world of citrus fruits. The crisp coolness of winter brings the widest variety of citrus for us to enjoy. Use the chart above to see when your favorite citruses are in season. If you're less familiar with some varieties, take a look below to see the differences between some of the most popular types.

Navel Oranges:

Sweet, seedless, and easy to peel. Navels have a thinner skin and are made for eating.

Valencia Oranges:

Balanced sweet-tart taste and contains seeds. Valencias have a thicker skin and are great for juicing.

Grapefruits:

Pink and red varieties offer a balance of sweet and tangy flavors.

Tango Mandarins:

Satsuma Mandarins:

As a bonus, we've got a recommendation straight from Paul Sigona! If you're looking for a refreshing way to start your day, try Paul's Five Alive drink.

Paul's version is made with the juice of:

  • Valencia or Navel oranges
  • Tangelos
  • Grapefruits
  • Mandarins
  • Lime

However, you can switch any of these citrus out with Cara Cara oranges, blood oranges, or honey tangerines for a slight change in flavor.
